Yesterday we had a hearty day indeed. We dissected a mammalian heart from a sheep. It was not as bloody as I expected. Well, so my chicken pie was obedient and stayed in my tummy. We still had to wash it and squeeze it dry but it wasn’t too eeky for comfort. Not as bad as I imagined. It was real fatty. We filled a blood vessel with water and squeezed it hard to see which vessel the water flows out from. This enabled us to understand which vessels are interlinked to each other. We filled it up many times but the water kept leaking out. There a long slit at the back of the heart. Haha. Mebbe the sheep died from a slit in its heart. My awful diagnosis. Ruo Xi was squeamish throughout the practical and felt like puking. We cut up the heart (no, I should say dissected. Must be scientific mah.) with a silver scissors, those you see in a tailor. It was fairly difficult to hold a soft heart and cut through the thick layer of fats at the same time. You shall see how unhealthy the sheep is. Sigh. Mebbe it died of arteriosclerosis. Jus spy those fats! We had to cut it on a tray filled with yellow-beige hard wax. It looked like some disgusting corn cake that went horribly wrong. Why am I hungry? I jus had 3 McChicken wings. Talk about fats and no training. The flabs are starting to visit me… I stabbed the equipment with a needle-like end into the hard wax. I felt like King Arthur when I drew it out! And we cut through the muscular septum. It is 1.9 cm thick! Oh here are the photos. Feel grossed out!
